Mauls are a type of Two-Handed Weapon in Elder Scrolls Online. They share the same Attack Speed as Greatswods and Battle Axes. Equipping them while having the passive skill: Heavy Weapons (from the Two-Handed Skill Line) grants the player additional Armor Penetration. Otherwise, there are no differences between Mauls and the other weapon types mentioned above (except cosmetic ones). (WITH A TWO-HANDED WEAPON EQUIPPED) Grants a bonus based on the type of weapon equipped: Swords increase your damage done by 6%. Axes grant your melee attacks a 16% chance to apply a bleed dealing 8206 Physical Damage over 6 seconds. So looking over the 2H weapon passive skills, I noted the following effect for the 'Heavy Weapons' skill: WITH TWO-HANDED WEAPON EQUIPPED.Grants bonuses for different weapon types:.Two handed swords deal 3%/5% extra damage.Two handed axes deal x Physical Damage extra bleeding damage. Yes, as a magicka unit, if youre using two-handed weapons you need to use a sword due to how much extra spell damage you get and is the main reason why one would choose to use two-handed as a magicka character. Do keep in mind though that you do miss out on some light attack damage from having a destruction staff which really does add up.
